Tigertail is a series of wires covered with a coloured nylon coating. This creates a strong but flexible beading wire which is ideal for heavier or sharp edged beads. The diameter will vary depending on the number of wires used to make the Tigertail. The nylon coating comes in a variety of colours to match your glass beads.
How do I use Tigertail?
When using tigertail you have to be careful not to kink the wire. A pair of wire cutters are needed to cut the lengths required for your beadwork. Your glass beads are held in place with a small metal crimp bead which is flattened with flat nose pliers. (see How to Use Crimp Beads)
How do I keep the beads in place?
Thread onto the beading wire, tigertail, a metal crimp bead, add a small bead and then take the end of the wire through the loop of your clasp and then thread back through the small bead and the crimp. (see photo) Slide the crimp up towards your clasp and when in place flatten with a pair of chain nose/flat nose pliers. Add some of your beads sliding over both pieces of wire and then trim back any excess wire with a pair of wire cutters.
How do I finish off my beading project?
When all your beads are threaded up add a crimp bead, a small bead and then take the wire through the loop of the other end of the clasp then slide back through the bead, crimp and a few extra beads. Gently pull the wire through so the crimp sits next to the beads and then flatten as before. Trim the excess wire to finish.
